Car Warranties Offset Mega Repair Bills in the Megalopolis
Sometimes called an "extended warranty", a service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs or services. Although technically not a “warranty” as defined by federal law, service contracts may be arranged at any time and always costs extra. Warranties, on the other hand, ONLY come with a new car and are included in the original price. Vehicle service contracts are popularly referred to as "extended auto warranties" or "extended warranties". Use of the term "extended warranty" or "warranty" on this site is intended to refer to vehicle service contracts and not manufacturer's warranties.
The densely-populated urban corridor stretching from Boston to Washington, D.C, is referred to by geographers as the “megalopolis,” Greek for “great city.” The Megalopolis is home to some of America’s largest cities, largest buildings, largest personaliti – and largest vehicle repair bills. That is because labor rates in the megalopolis are 20-30% higher than in less urban portions of the county. With no sign of declining repair costs, drivers are turning to extended warranties for their automobiles, to help reign-in expenses.
The average labor rate for a dealership in the megalopolis is $95. But in cities such as New York, Boston, and Washington, D.C., labor rates of $125 are not uncommon. For drivers, that means that practically every repair – including parts – is guaranteed to be upwards of $200. But as many drivers know, a $200 vehicle repair bill is a cheap one.
Savvy megalopolis drivers, or ones trying to take more control of their wallets, are turning to a quality auto warranty, to help deflect their vehicle repair costs. With a car warranty, the labor cost, parts, and taxes for the repair of a covered component is fully paid for. Although sometimes there is a small deductible, many plans provide the option of a $0 deductible.
Extended warranty brokers like AA Auto Protection, located in the megalopolis, are able to offer a full range of options for consumers who want to enjoy the high life of the megalopolis, but not the high vehicle repair bills.
