Control Expensive Gadget Repairs with a Quality Extended Car Warranty
Sometimes called an "extended warranty", a service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs or services. Although technically not a “warranty” as defined by federal law, service contracts may be arranged at any time and always costs extra. Warranties, on the other hand, ONLY come with a new car and are included in the original price. Vehicle service contracts are popularly referred to as "extended auto warranties" or "extended warranties". Use of the term "extended warranty" or "warranty" on this site is intended to refer to vehicle service contracts and not manufacturer's warranties.
Within the last 40 years, vehicles have been transformed from machines that the “backyard mechanic” could repair, to requiring the skills of a master technician even to diagnose. Technology has made the “horseless carriage” nearly a computer on four wheels. The sophistication of the electronics of newer cars is only equaled by their expense in having them repaired. Savvy consumers are turning to extended warranties for automobiles as a way of avoiding costly repair bills for parts too exotic to even name.
Only decades ago, cars were practically all pistons, cylinders, gears, and a manual transmission. Now, they seem mostly to be circuit boards, diodes, solenoids, and computers. The car enthusiast of an earlier time would have no trouble savings on repair costs by simply performing the work himself. But now that is hardly an option. The failure of a vehicle’s central computer, or HVAC electronics, can cost hundreds, and more on some vehicles. Rather than become amateur vehicular computer scientists, consumers are choosing to invest in a quality car warranty, from a broker like AA Auto Protection.
A good exclusionary, or bumper-to-bumper auto warranty, covers all computers and electronic components, even in the most sophisticated vehicles. Navigation systems, DVD players, and other luxuries of modern cars are expensive to repair, but not to the driver who has a reputable extended warranty, because those parts are covered, too.
It is hard enough to figure out all of the computerized functions of today’s cars and trucks. With a car warranty, at least it’s possible to figure out how to control expensive repair costs.
