Cost Vs. Price in Not Having an a Car Warranty
Alex Lohan considered an extended warranty for his automobile, a bright blue 2005 BMW 325. "I heard that beemers can be really expensive to repair, so I looked at getting a car warranty" said Lohan. After contacting several extended warranty brokers, he decided that the plans were too expensive. "Looking back, they were less," he said with a forced laugh.
Recently, Alex let his son, Marcus, use his car to go out on a date. On the way home, the party ended early when the vehicle would not move forward, but would not go into reverse. A frantic call to his father resulted in a tow truck coming a couple hours later.
The next day, Alex brought his prized vehicle to his trusted mechanic. He said, "I knew I would get a right estimate and right work, which is impossible to find these days." The problem was the transmission. The surprise was the repair cost: $2455. "I was just speechless. Then the mechanic asked me whether I had an extended warranty. I just walked out."
The one auto warranty that Lohan nearly purchased only 4 months before was $3200, and would have covered the engine, steering, braking system, drive axle assembly.and transmission, of his vehicle. "I told him no and I said it was too pricey. I guess that decision cost me a lot more than it saved me," concluded Alex.
Customers might be intimidated by the prices of a quality extended car warranty should also consider the cost of not having one. With component prices for old vehicles rising, labor rate averages going up, and incomes not rising fast enough, repair bills take a much bigger chunk bite out of the budget than ever. Quality brokers of auto warranties like AA Auto Protection are able to offer a variety of plans for all needs, and for all budgets. A relatively small investment, at the time of your choosing, is always better than a large expense coming when you least expect it.
