Americans flock to car dealerships over Memorial Day weekend
Sometimes called an "extended warranty", a service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs or services. Although technically not a “warranty” as defined by federal law, service contracts may be arranged at any time and always costs extra. Warranties, on the other hand, ONLY come with a new car and are included in the original price. Vehicle service contracts are popularly referred to as "extended auto warranties" or "extended warranties". Use of the term "extended warranty" or "warranty" on this site is intended to refer to vehicle service contracts and not manufacturer's warranties.
Memorial Day weekend is a busy time for car dealers, as they tend to see a large increase in the number of people shopping for a vehicle. Memorial Day typically kicks off what dealers refer to as "car-buying season," and dealers around the country are slashing prices in order to draw more drivers in. Smart shoppers will know that the best way to ensure their recently-purchased vehicle stays on the road is by purchasing an extended warranty.
As the economy slowly bounces back, it's a great time to buy a car. Dealers hope that more money in consumer's pockets, along with the sunny weather and holiday weekend will create a perfect storm of car sales. Automakers and dealers alike are keen on selling lots of vehicles this weekend, according to the Detroit News.
"There are a lot of cars and trucks that carmakers need to move because they are bringing in all-new models, and there's a pent-up demand," car pricing analyst Jessica Caldwell told the news source.
If you're headed to the lot this weekend, consider buying a third-party auto warranty from AA Auto Protection to protect your new car. It's impossible to know how a car will perform after it is driven off the lot. A bumper-to-bumper warranty means drivers won't have to worry about their new car falling victim to breakdown. There are plenty of options available for any vehicle and budget.
