Unique graduation present: Extended car warranties

Sometimes called an "extended warranty", a service contract is a promise to perform (or pay for) certain repairs or services. Although technically not a “warranty” as defined by federal law, service contracts may be arranged at any time and always costs extra. Warranties, on the other hand, ONLY come with a new car and are included in the original price. Vehicle service contracts are popularly referred to as "extended auto warranties" or "extended warranties". Use of the term "extended warranty" or "warranty" on this site is intended to refer to vehicle service contracts and not manufacturer's warranties.

Come this May, a multitude of high school and college seniors will don a cap and gown, and take another step toward adulthood.

For parents and friends who are looking to get their favorite graduate something special and unique, the answer may be as simple as purchasing an extended car warranty.

Some graduates may be moving to a new city or town, either to start a new job or for a new school. While they are away from home, family and friends can ensure their loved one is safe by purchasing a car warranty for their graduate.

Graduation and its aftermath can be an exciting part of a young adult's life. This time can also be one where taking care of personal finances is as important as crafting good study habits and creating a concise and readable cover letter.

One way to ensure that future car repair costs are kept at a manageable level is through an extended car warranty. This may be especially important for graduates who have a used car whose warranty has long expired.
