Under 30 day cancellations
To cancel a protection plan within
30 days of purchase date, you will need
the following:

Over 30 day cancellations
Protection plan cancellations more
than 30 days after purchase date:
To process your cancellation we will need
the following documentation:
1. A letter from you indicating that
you want to cancel your protection plan, and the reason.
Email or fax is not acceptable. This letter must be
an original, must be dated, and must be signed by
you. Please also include your phone number, current
email address in case we need to contact you, and
current mailing address for your refund.
2. The "declarations" or "registration"
or "application" page of your original protection
plan contract where you, your vehicle and your protection
plan are identified. Please write "cancel"
and your signature across this page. (Some protection
plans also include a separate booklet describing coverage.
You need not send back the booklet; just send the
registration page marked "cancel" and signed.)
3. One of the following for proof of
mileage:
a. If you traded in or sold your vehicle
to a dealer, a copy of the odometer statement that
the dealer is required by law to provide to you.
b. If your vehicle was declared a
total loss by an insurance company, a copy of the
"total loss" letter from the insurance
company, indicating the mileage on the vehicle at
the time of loss.
c. If you are canceling your protection
plan for any other reason, or if no other independent
third-party proof of mileage is available, a notarized
statement by you of the current
mileage or the mileage at the time of sale or disposition.
This must be an original document, and you must
sign it in the presence of a notary public.
4. Secure Choice, Great Choice, Direct
Choice, Cool Choice and Best Choice: Sales of these
protection plans before March 2, 2009 become final,
and these protection plans become ineligible for a
refund, 90 days after purchase. For sales of these
protection plans on or after March 2, 2009, sales
become final 60 days after the sale. These protection
plans come with an activation kit of automotive additive
products to be used in your vehicle. If you do not
return all of the products unused and sealed in their
original packaging, $100.00 will be deducted from
your refund to cover the cost of the products.

In most cases the cancellation refund
you receive will be based upon the original purchase
price prorated by either the unused time or unused mileage
remaining on the protection plan, less any claims paid
or claims-related expenses, less insurance fees, less
administrative fees, less the protection plan administrator's
cancellation fees if any, less the AAAutoProtection
cancellation processing fee. If you bought your protection
plan using a payment plan, the payment plan administrator's
processing fee and any payments not made will also be
deducted. If significant claims against your protection
plan have been paid, your refund may be little or zero.
Allow 45 days to receive your cancellation refund, commencing
on the date we have received all required documentation.
IMPORTANT:
(a.) PAYMENT-PLAN CUSTOMERS: If you
bought your protection plan using a payment plan,
we urge you NOT to attempt to cancel by just stopping
your payments. That may result in the payment plan
administrator canceling the protection plan for non-payment
30 days after the payment is due, making it ineligible
for a refund. If, regardless of this warning, you
choose to stop the payments, please <reply>
to this email instructing us to cancel your payment
plan now.
(b.) The day you contacted us, we began
the protection plan cancellation process for you by
establishing your pending cancellation effective date,
notifying the protection plan administrator, etc.
To keep that pending cancellation date we must receive
your cancellation documents within 14 days of this
email. If your cancellation documents have not arrived
in 14 days, your cancellation will be effective the
date we receive your documents.
(c.) If you are NOT returning your protection
plan contract either because you have not yet received
it or because it is no longer in your possession,
please say so in your letter.
(d.) If your protection plan came with
an activation kit and you are not returning it, please
say so in your letter. We will request delivery confirmation
before processing your refund.
