Three Easy Ways to Unleash Your Engine’s Potential

Car EngineWhat if you could free up a portion of your engine’s power that is currently being wasted? How about if you could free-up some horsepower and improve fuel efficiency at the same time? Here are several ways that you can accomplish this multi-task.

Cold Air Intake
Increase fuel atomization, optimize engine performance, and maximize fuel economy with a easy to install cold air intake. Most kits are application specific and come with all of the tubing, hardware, and even a filter. The only down side of the cold air intake is that it can be noisy when accelerating briskly. Prices range between $200 and $400 depending upon brand and vehicle type and yield approximately a 15 horsepower increase.

Throttle Body Spacer
Most throttle body spacers provide improved fuel atomization by implementing the swirl effect to intake air. The throttle body spacer usually costs between $50 and $150 and will free up around 15 horsepower. This item is relatively simple to install and even easier when installing the cold air intake simultaneously.

Performance Exhaust System
You may not realize that your engine is wasting horsepower by pushing exhaust through a restrictive muffler. You can loose about another 15 ponies and improve your fuel economy by replacing your restrictive factory exhaust with a high-performance exhaust system. You also get a bonus with a less restrictive exhaust system because it sounds greatl. You can choose from one of many high performance exhaust systems on the market. They are offered in a wide variety of configurations that range from relatively quiet to obnoxiously loud.

Your tips for repairing my muffler to enhance my engine’s performance was quite enlightening. It’s interesting how pushing exhaust through a restricted muffler can cause my engine to use extra horsepower. You made quite the convincing argument for replacing my exhaust system. If doing that could prevent my car from losing 15 horsepower, then it seems like a good idea to invest in a new muffler. Thanks for the tips!
